i have already the config file now, i just need to upload this conf to the startup of my new router so how can i do this using external USB,

Ok.  Let me spell out the "riot act".

1.  This method is NOT supported by Cisco TAC.  So if your config file was copied from the USB flash and the appliance fails ...

2.  Not all USB flash drives are supported (because those drives are not up-to-standard);

3.  Format the drives using FAT 16;

4.  Maximum size I've used is 2Gb but others swear that 8Gb is still usable.

Copy the file to the USB flash like you do with any other.

When you plug it into your appliance, you normally will see in the logs if the USB flash got inserted and whether or not the appliance will accept it.

To copy the config from the USB to yoru startup is as simple as "copy usbflash0: start".

That's all folks!

Peter,

If you have access via telnet/ssh you can easily setup a TFTP server on the Router's LAN and copy the running config doing a "copy run tftp". TFTP32 is TFTP free program and very easy to use. Then you can pull the config file from there.

Or you can just do sh run and copy the configuration from there to a text file.

To upload it to a brand new router you would need to start a console session using the console cable that comes with the router and then paste the config. Make sure that the config is blank before pasting the new config and make sure you do "no shut" on all the interfaces that you will have as active interfaces.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for the answer Luis,

but the Cisco is pre installed so it contain info,

is there is no other way to upload this file i will create to the startup file on the router?

Let me see if I get your issue ...

You have a 892 router in one country and you wan to copy the config and copy it across to another one.  This is OK but you need to change the management IP address.

Doing this using USB is not easy because you need to have a USB that is compatible.
