Cisco Anyconnect Always-on

My question is how does always-on work when connecting to wifi networks where you have to drop into their guest net to authenticate on a webpage?

Would that initial communication be allowed and then the VPN requirements kick in?

This guest portal is usually called "Captive Portal", and Cisco AnyConnect has an option to detect captive portals. For more information, please, see:
