Hi all,

i try to install Cisco Anyconnect 3.1.14018 or 4.5.04029. I get the following error:

There is a problem wirh this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the

setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Please give me not a link to any other threads, where the problem is solved. I tried all of them.

The OS is Windows 10  Pro Version 1709 Systembuild: 16299.248.

The error is present on 3 machines.

Has anyone an idea what is the solution for the problem?

Many thanks in andvance.

Franz

What modules of AnyConnect are you installing just the core VPN?

Have you tried searching through the registry and deleting any hives/values that relate to AnyConnect? This would be my first suggestion, I have been able to fix many install errors by doing this for the core NAM and SBL modules for AnyConnect.

I also find running cmd or powershell as admin and launching the installer from there helps with issues like this one.

Hi Ben,

thanks for reply. I would only install VPN.

I will search the registry for Anyconnect entries and delete all of them.

I post the result here.

Hi Ben,

I tried your possible solutions -> all is negative.

The only different to installations before is, that the setup don't hang for a few minutes.

If I start the setup from cmd with administrator permissions the setup don't hang but

the rollback is the same as before.

?????

Franz

Unfortunately I don't have any more suggestions, usually searching the registry on the machine for "cisco" and removing anything related to anyconnect has resolved any issue we have had when trying to install or upgrade the AnyConnect client program.

Including the issue you seem to be having where the installer doesn't complete and rolls back.
