crypto isakmp tunnel getting hanged

Hi Team,

    We have a tunnel from firewall to internet router along with physical connection.

Yesterday we has faced issue that internet router tunnel get hanged and no any traffice passed through it.

We have cleared the crypto isakmp tunnel BY clear crypto session remote *.*.*.*

Arter that all tunnel working weel fine,

Anybody can told me what the exact issue and why its getting hanged and ho think

we are using ASA firewall.

It deletes all the active VPNs.

Could you please tell me that after cammand "clear crypto session remote *.*.*.* "
Tunnel gets reset or delete?
As i know tunnel must me clear from both site at same time. Whats the reason behind that ?
And can you please tell me whats the day-to-day monitoring for ipsec tunnels.
