dialer watch problem

i have a problem with a dialer watch.

I have a primary atm interface and a backup interface async. I use the dialer watch to look one route but this route sometime fall and isn't received and the dialer call. Then i have taken a static route for it pointed to the primary interface :

ip route x.x.x.x 255.255.255.0 ATM0/0.1

my ask is: can the dialer call when the atm interface (primary) fall down?

Yes. If you have dialer watch configured to monitor the static route then it should trigger a call when the atm interface goes down.
