hi all,
hope you can help, I have a problem which is pretty annoying
I went to set up cisco vpn on a users home computer yesterday, it is just an average computer,XP Home (not sure what service pack) and also part of the setup was replacing their modem with a netgear router (DG834)
I used the same version I always used, I think 5.0.304 or something like that... used a profile which I had tested as working already... tried to connect and came up with error 442, failed to enable virtual adapter. I uninstalled it, did a winfix and dnefix which usually helps, installed a newer version, I think 5.0.7 something, and had exactly same error!
not sure what else I can do next? they have mcafee security installed on the pc, which I think may be conflicting, or there may be deeper issues, as when I try to repair the cisco adapter connection, it fails saying that tcp/ip is not installed on this connection, which I think may be an issue, although not sure if that is just a symptom of this issue. incidentally, I did disable the mcafee firewall, also tried turning off all mcafee services when i was doing all this. I also did the winsock fix incase this helped, although not sure if this only repairs it on the main connection, rather than all connections?
just want to get this working, appreciate any ideas...
