Errors installing AnyConnect client v3.1.07021 on Windows 8.1

Hi folks,  I'm trying to install the anyconnect client from anyconnect-win-3.1.07021-pre-deploy-k9.msi (confirmed working on another user's machine) and at the end of the install procedure I get the following error:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Accepting the error backs out the installation, and the client will not install.

I have checked the windows logs and found this one:

Product: Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.  Action VACon64_ndis6_Install, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\VACon64.exe, command: -install "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\\vpnva-6.inf" VPNVA

Can anybody provide a way forward with this one?

Regards,

Brendan

Hi Dinesh,

Thanks for the suggestion, but that did not work on its own.

At the suggestion of a few colleagues, I took a look at network adapters in the Device Manager, and found a few adapters with names like "Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter - Deterministic Network Enhancer Miniport" - I was unable to uninstall these, so I disabled them and was then able to successfully install.

Hopefully this can be of some value to others with the problem.

Thanks for the additional information, Brendan.

Primarily such issues occur due to conflict between preexisting network adapters.
I have personally seen many cases where upgrading the DNE package from Citrix alleviates the issue for IPSec VPN but have not seen it for Anyconnect VPN but seems like it would work for it as well.

If you wish to dig deeper, you might want to try upgrading DNE from this link:
https://www.citrix.com/go/lp/dne.html

Hope this helps.
