Few VPN set up questions

First off the way our current VPN is set up I have people hitting the Pix515r and that points then to my RADIUS server to auth them, then they have to use remote desktop and connect to another PC here in the office. Its a terrible waste of PC's and we need to get away from this ASAP.

I was wondering if there is a better way to go about this and HOW? I know in the future we plan on buying an ASA5520 but thats more end of the year. I remember at my last company I just connected useing the Cisco VPN client on my Machine and I had the desktop and drive mappings already there as if I was in the office. But for the life of me I don't know how theirs was set up, or even where to beging to set ours up like that, they were also a novell shop if that makes a difference. We are running Windows 2003 here, and any help would be very thankful.

Radius server authentication is a better option.
