How to select browser for Anyconnect VPN client on debian/Ubuntu

I am trying to let my cloud VM (debian) to connect to a VPN (which requires authentication steps via browser). Here are what I have done:

1. On the VM I Installed sshd, google-chrome, Firefox , Annyconnect

2. I set up the X forwarding for SSH, and it works (I can run VM's xterm on my local machine)

3. I used update-alternatives --config x-www-browser to set chrome as the default browser.

Then I ran /opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpn -s connect vpn.serverdomain.com. No browser poped-up after a long while and the console kept on showing "notice: Checking status of browser based authentication..." messages.

Does anyone know how to set browser path for /opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpn ?

Looks like the VPN client (/opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpn) doesn't use the system browser default setting.

On my local Ubuntu, the VPN client always uses Firefox to open the authentication link even after I set Chrome as the default browser..

Is there a way to set browser path for the Anyconnect VPN client on Linux ?
