We have a offcie with 300 users
Application that will be used on Lan :- Voice, Video Conferencing, Wireless, IP VPN with
some other site over internet.
We are going for 3Mbps Internet Bandwidth on Ethernet as last mile interface.
Kindly suggest on the below listed points:- 1) How do we build redundancy for the primary
link. (Thinking of going for additional ethernet (Standby mode) last mile as backup for
primary link failure.
2)Router we are looking at is 2801 with advanced ip services with 3 FE interfaces...is it ok
or we go ahead with 1841 router.
3) Continuing on redundancy can we have primary link on ethernet and backup on 2 seria links
of 2Mbps each...how will both the serial interface act as backup for 3Mbps primary link on ethernet.
4) How can we maintain the VPN tunnel between the two sites A & B in case of either primary or backup link failure.
Valued inputs with configuration will be appreciated.
Regards

Hi
Just to give my thoughts
1.Its better to go for a ethernet connection as a backup as when required you can have your bandwidth increased just by calling ur provider rather than taking a serial and again applying for new link and cards
2.If you are planning to have more traffic and have some features added in your router , its better to go for 2800 router .
3.It would be better to be on ethernet , but care must be taken as some kind of routing protocol is required for the proper primary and backup operation
4. Your ISP would take care of the primary and backup routing . For your VPN tunnel it depends on your design .
Hope this helps
