Had a question thrown my way recently. Our compnay uses Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. I was asked if the software installed was IPSEC or SSL. I think the correct answer should be the software supports both and its the remote end that determines if the VPN is IPSEC or SSL or have i got that wrong?

Hi,
Yes, AnyConnect client supports both IPSec and SSL Remote Access VPN. By default if you connect to just the hostname, it will connect using SSL. You would have to define a profile (using the AC Profile Editor) and specify IPSec.

Also on the ASA (I assume you are referring to ASA) you would have to specify which protocol (SSL and/or IPSec) is supported.
