You should have no problems as long as your VPN tunnel is configured correctly. The only thing I can think of that won't pass through a VPN tunnel is Multicast traffic if the tunnel is IPSec. If the tunnel is GRE then even multicast traffic will pass through. Just make sure that you configure your VPN traffic to be an extension of your LAN and you will be fine.
