Hi,

I'm struggling with QuickVPN for a few days now and it's driving me nuts.

I always get as far as :

2011/07/20 20:56:52 [STATUS]OS Version: Windows XP

2011/07/20 20:56:52 [STATUS]Windows Firewall is OFF

2011/07/20 20:56:57 [WARNING]Failed to connect.

2011/07/20 20:56:57 [WARNING]Failed to connect!

I tried :

- checked subnets are not conflicting

- tried firewall off/on in router

- my firewalls/antivirus all are off

- ipsec service is started

- tried identical and different remote access port : tried 443 , 60443  or what I normally use 7768

- hostname is set in the router

- tried smaller MTU

- tried with and withouth license from router ( *.pem in folder of client)

- disabling firewall also tested  : block WAN requests on/off

- tried multicast pass through on/off

- HTTPS enabled/disabled

- Ipsec / PPTP / L2TP pass through all on

- i don't have a router I am on a PPPOE connection to my ISP ...

My OS is Windows 2003 , QuickVPN 1.4.1.2

Is it just me or the log is useless?

PPTP works fine.

What the hell is provisioning? What is the client trying to do in this step?

Any ideas?

Robert

Hi,

I'm having the exact same issue and have not found a resolution myselft.  Have you had any luck with this Robert?

Regards,
Adeel

Hi Adeel,

Unfortunately, after struggling with it a few days, I gave up on QuickVPN .. and used PPTP (limited to 5).

After a year or so .. my colleague set up QuickVPN .. and I was amazed .. for him it worked immediately.

No idea ..

The only thing that happened with the router in-between was firmware update.

Active Firmware Version : 2.0.2.01-tm

Backup Firmware Version : 2.0.0.19-tm

From this entry I assume we had 19 and now we moved to newer.

That is my only bet .. or perhaps QuickVPN client changed .. and simply the one my colleague used was newer.

He setup QuickVPN (and was tested working) like 1 month ago.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Robert

Thanks Robert.  I updated the firmware already and have am also using the latest version of the client.  I'm sure it must be something very simple (i.e. a check box) that I have overlooked.  Nonetheless, I've given this about 5 hours of my life which I cannot get back .

I just tried again and see the following in the VPN logs of the router:

Aug 20 14:58:57 2012VPN Log (qknips1): deleting connection
Aug 20 14:58:44 2012VPN Log loading secrets from '/etc/ipsec.d/ipsec.secrets'
Aug 20 14:58:44 2012VPN Log forgetting secrets
Aug 20 14:58:44 2012VPN Log listening for IKE messages
Aug 20 14:58:44 2012VPN Log added connection description (qknips1)

My feeling is that it has something to do with ports and port forwarding.  I am using 443 for remote management of my router but I think QVPN also uses 443.  This should not really cause a conflict in my mind but it may have something to do with it.  Going to try changing my remote management from 443 to 8433.  If that does not work, I will have to carry on my quest.

Regards,
Adeel

This is my setting now. Perhaps it helps .. I'm also not using 443.

I would share a saved config of mine .. but it's a security issue .. I'm really sorry .

I really hope you manage to make it work.
