VPN Client blocks local network when active

I have a customer who has asked me to use Cisco VPN Client (v5.0.07.0410) to connect to their site for support.

The problem is that once the connection is established I lose access to my local network, so any process accessing drives on the server crash and any Windows VPN sessions active with other clients are also dropped.

I also develop software so am always working on programs on the server. If I forget to save my work and exit the editor before connecting to this particular customer using the Cisco product, I lose all my work.

I have tried checking the allow local LAN users option but it makes no difference.

You have to tell your customer to activate split tunnel configuration.

Hi Ross,

The default behaviour of the VPN client software is that they will tunnel all the traffic, including your LAN traffic. If you want to access you local LAN even if you are connected with VPN, you need to ask the client to enable local LAN. This can be only be achived by using Spit tunneling.
