VPN Client failed

Hi all,

I have a problem that i can't resolve.... i called support by the society who instaled us pix and vpn client and they don't know how to resolve it too.

I'm fed up with this problem and i hope u can help me ! 🙂

the problem is the following :

I installed vpn client on several machines and when i start it and when i activate the Log, it tells me :

"Function CreateFile failed with an error code of 0x00000002(DRVIFACE:725) failed with an error code of %2."

i tried to uninstall it, to delete the folder where it was installed, and install it in a different folder, i gave all the rights to everybody (its on windows xp system), and there is nothing to do...

this error occured each second when the CVPND service start.

What can i do ?

What version of the client are your trying to install? This looks like an OS issue to me. May be someone with expertise on OS can throw some light on this issue.

In similar issues with the VPN 4.x client I found out that:

1)When a winXP user was part of a domain I had to make the domain user on the machine part of the local administrators' group. This resolved an issue where the IPSEC service could not properly initialize.

2)On machines where there was firewall software installed (Panda to be more precise) I had to totally UNINSTALL (not just disable) the firewall, in order to get the VPN client to work. In a similar way I also had to totally uninstall the antivirus as well, install the VPN client, and then re-install the antivirus last. This is a known issue for the panda firewall and they are working on it. I am not sure however, if this was panda's fault or if it something with the VPN client itself since I read about similar issues with the f-secure as well.

Well in my case my laptop is not part of a domain or have any other firewall than the XP SP2 built in one (how can I possibly uninstall it...)

I've tried lots of things but no joy.

Everything started after I reversed back the OS in time with few days.

This is very annoying situation and nobody has a clue it seams to me.

On top of the lack of support for not CCO-account blessed creatures?
