I'm currently working on a project to implement a site-to-site VPN with tunnels built over the internet. Pretty standard stuff. This connection would be used as a replacement for existing frame relay lines. The biggest concern that I've heard so far is in regards to the latency of traffic over the internet vs. a dedicated frame line. All this connection will be used for is TCP data. No voice, no SNA, etc.
Has anyone found any documentation published by Cisco or any other vendor showing study or test results of latency differences over these two mediums? I understand that the speed/latency is going to vary widely based on access speeds, but there has to be some general data somewhere. Thanks.
