enablement of https and socks proxy

Dear Team,

Currently both https and socks proxy are disabled ,what would be the benefit if we enable both.

Enabling https proxy helps you inspect encrypted http traffic with Antivirus engine, control micro apps like facebook chat etc. which otherwise would not be possible.

Main reason you would use socks proxy could be if you want some non-http apps (without direct internet access) be able to reach out to the internet via wsa appliance.

Is there any impact for current configuration if we enable both https and socks proxy?

Please clarify what you're asking.

As I understand from your point we would need certificate from WSA to be imported on all client machines to enable socks proxy. Please confirm whether this understanding is correct.

You do NOT need to import any certificate to the client machine for SOCKS proxy.  You only need to import certificate for HTTPs decryption.

The impact when you enabled HTTPS proxy is that users will get certificate warning page if the HTTPS site is being decrypted and if you have not trusted the certificate that generated from WSA on all your client machines.

When you enable SOCKS proxy, it will make the WSA to listen to port that performing SOCKS (Socks control port) by default is 1080 and also UDP ports on which the SOCKS server should listen (default 16000-16100). Even these will require more resources in WSA however very small and not significant impact.
