Hardware to install SMA for S300

Hello Folks!

I need to install a Virtual SMA to manage 05 WSA S300.

I found the link below about the installation but is confusing, in some point says is necessary 1024GB/08GB/04 (disk/memory/processor) and in another part say is necessary a UCS server.

Now I don´t know if I can install in a normal server such as Dell ou if it is obligated to buy a UCS server.

https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/security/content_security/virtual_appliances/Cisco_Content_Security_Virtual_Appliance_Install_Guide.pdf#page4

Thanks

Marcio

The only "officially supported" hardware is UCS, but I feel like that's just covering themselves.

I've been running virtual ESA, WSA, SMA for years as well as being in most of the betas since the 7.x versions, never had a problem where the hardware mattered.

You're fine on Dell...

Hi Marcio,

The supported Hardware is Cisco UCS, if you're using Dell or other hardware vendor - if there's any issue, cisco will provide "best effort" support, as stated on page 8 (https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/security/content_security/virtual_appliances/Cisco_Content_Security_Virtual_Appliance_Install_Guide.pdf#page8)

In short: From a lab perspective, it could work - but for production, I would not recommend doing so.
