Ironport URL misclassification

Hello Cisco,

I have noticed that Ironport is classifying our forums as ""Pornography;Newsgroups/Forums".

Correct classification would be: "Newsgroups/Forums".

Please advise how to corrrect this.

Hi Petri,

You can actually log into cisco.com -> Security -> IronPort Web Security Appliances -> Cisco IronPort Web Usage Controls Category Lookup tool and subit the URL to be categprized. Once your in the tool click on the Lookup or Submit URLs tab -> Select the appropriate AsyncOS version -> Input the URL which is categorized incorrectly and select lookup. Once it process the URL you can then submit it for another category. Sometimes it may take a few trys before it will be re-categorized.

Thank you for prompt reply.

The link you have provided returns "Sorry!!! Uncorrect Ironport contract, please open a ticket with support."

We don't have any kind of contract with Cisco at the moment and our intention is just to correct the categorisation of our forums. It is currently categorised as adult entertainment but the correct categorisation is "Jokes; Internet humour; Newsgroups/Forums".

I can provide sample URLs.

Hi,

Just put a request for www.dailytraveller.gr to be categorise as travel category. This can take 24 hours to be reflected globally

Hi,

I was having problems with my website being miscategorised a while ago, but I can't find a way to check its category now, as I don't have any connection with Cisco other than my account used to visit this forum. Could you please check my site and if it doesn't already show up, could it be classified as "Online Communities" or whatever is most appropriate for my forum?

Is it also possible for a checker to be introduced that doesn't involve being a customer of Cisco? It seems unfair that you can classify our sites at your discretion, but we can't find an easy way to find out that classification, or do anything about it unless we stumble on this page. The frequent name changes of the product haven't done anything to make that task easier either.

Hi Cisco,

our website https://www.nomination.fr/client/auth/login is currently classified by iron port as:

Menace Type : othermalware

Domain reported and verified as serving malware. Identified as malicious domain or URL

we are not cisco's client but some of our prospect are and can't use our solution.

Can you explain us why are we black-listed ? Is there an actual reason or something we have to fix on our side.

Our site is also mis-categorized as Uncategorized or Parked Domain, but it is the official city web site for the City of Medicine Lake, MN. The domain is www.cityofmedicinelake.com. I am also not a Cisco client, but one of the council members work office is and this is the message they get when they are at work.
