Hello All,

Just wondering if folks who use this Router also use a firewall device? If so, any suggestions for a small to medium size network with approximately 50 LAN devices?

Thanks,

Shawn

What type of Internet access do you have?  ADSL, VDSL, Fibre, Cable, something else?

Do you have any VPN requirements?

How good to you want the security to be?  Average, excellent?

If you want excellent security, then I would look at a Cisco ASA 5506 or a 5516 Firepower bundle with the firepower module licenced up (you'll also need AnyConnect VPN licences for excellent user to site VPN support).

Another option which is less sophisticated but much easier to configure is a Cisco Meraki MX65.  This is more like the RV325, but a million times better.  Make sure you get the "Advanced Security" licence.

I have Cable ISP, yes for VPN and excellent security if preferred. One of the reasons for the question is due to the frequency of requests to port 3389 by outsiders as well as the desire to lock down who can connect to what on the internet. The firewall rules in the RV325 have limited entries.

Thanks for the recommendations as they both look like great options. Much appreciated, sir.
