WSA S100V Update problem: "Failed to authenticate with manifest server"

Hi all,

we have a problem to update our Web Security Appliance S100V. (from 11.8. to 12.01)

If I want to upgrade our appliance on the CLI I get an error: "Failure downloading upgrade list: Failed to authenticate with manifest server"

After a quick research it should be something with the licensing.

With the commend license_smart I get the following:

Evaluation Period: Not In Use
Evaluation Period Remaining: 89 days 23 hours 58 minutes
Registration Status: Registered ( 25 May 2020 16:52 ) Registration Expires on:
( 13 Jul 2021 14:25 )
Smart Account: xxx.xxx.de
Virtual Account: xxx.xxx.de
Last Registration Renewal Attempt Status: SUCCEEDED on 13 Jul 2020 14:39
License Authorization Status: Out Of Compliance ( 25 May 2020 16:53 )
Authorization Expires on: ( 12 Oct 2020 13:49 )
Last Authorization Renewal Attempt Status: SUCCEEDED on 14 Jul 2020 13:55
Product Instance Name: domainname.de
Transport Settings: Direct (https://smartreceiver.cisco.com/licservice/license)

The renew_auth command doesn't make any difference.

We got the license from our reseller two month ago.

Has it something to do with the licensing or is there any other problem on our appliance?

Thank you very much.

Hi Chris,

Most likely your XML license has expired. There are 2 software defects for the same issue with Smart License and Upgrades - CSCvs13494 and CSCvn51625.

Please check your XML license (CLI -> showlicense) status and follow the workaround:

Workaround:
- Obtain a new XML file from Global Licensing with a new expiration date and valid certificate.

Please vote if you find it helpful.
