Can I record video, then record voice separately?

I'm trying to record a training of my software. I want to first record the actions of me clicking around, and then I want to go back over it and record my voice explaining what I'm doing.  Is there a way to do that with Webex recording?  If not, does anyone know of a solution that does that?

Thanks for any help!

For a seamless solution, you can use screen recording software like Camtasia or OBS Studio. Record your actions first, then revisit and add your voiceover during the editing phase. These tools offer more flexibility compared to Webex recording for this specific scenario. Additionally, consider trying CapCut Mod Apk for user-friendly video editing and voiceover integration.

Of course! With capcut, you can capture audio and video independently. Better audio quality and editing control can be achieved by using one device for video recording and another for voice recording, such as a microphone or voice recorder. For a professional end product, you can later synchronise and integrate them throughout the video editing process. There are many other tools you can use them also but i personally prefer you to use capcut.

Absolutely! You can record video and voice separately by using capcut. Recording video with one device and voice with another, such as a microphone or voice recorder, allows for better audio quality and editing control. Later, you can synchronize and combine them during the video editing process for a polished result.

Hi @khodge ,

Webex can be used to deliver great training sessions, but it NOT designed as a recording studio.

I have done exactly as you describe using QuickTime recorder (Windows 11 has a similar function which allows recording of all or part of a screen) then editing in VideoProc Vlogger where you can separate voice and video and add a gazillion effects and almost as many short support videos to explain each. And it's free.

Another option is to look at OBS (Open Broadcast Software), or Streamlabs adaptation of OBS

Both free.

Be ready to lose yourself in hour of frustrating but exciting tinkering!

Hi again - I am struggling with this.  I couldn't get Quicktime to work, so I'm using OBS.  I recorded screen but can't figure out how to record voice over it.  And I can't find any help on their site - it takes me in circles and I can't find info there.  Can you point me in any direction on how to get info on recording?

Thanks in advance for any assist.  I'm running out of time for getting this project completed.

Hi @khodge ,

OK. as a not-so-great example (if the moderators forgive me for referring to my own example) look at about the 1:15sec mark in this video onwards. I recorded the screen in OBS, then later came along and recorded the voice just using Quicktime.  TBH - it would have been probably easier to record the Screen in Quicktime too.  Now at that time I then sent both to my son (who works with video software professionally for a news channel) who stitched them together for me BUT after that video, I discovered VideoProc Vlogger where I found it quite easy to do the same thing without having to hassle my son.

I think my best advice at this time is probably to put a bit more effort into the VideoProc Vlogger app - there are heaps of tutorials written for it, and the video track and voice track are quite easy to adjust - you can even speed up a section of video while keeping the voice normal.

But to give you a step-by-step tutorial of exactly what to do, that's been done so many times (by folk much better than me) it would be a waste of my time. This is one of their intro tutorials.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5047QSZ5Tw

Great - thank you; I'll look into those!
