diagnosing microphone muting/muting issues in Cisco Webex Meetings v40.9.6.11

we had multiple clients contacting our support desk with issues around microphone muting issues within ongoing webex meeting calls over the last couple of weeks. I experienced this issue today, where the microphone worked within the device testing dialog and worked during the start of the webex call, but stopped work in the middle of the a session. no matter of muting or unmuting the microphone made any change to the problem. the only way i got the microphone to work was to drop out of the webex meeting and rejoin.. the problem is there is no warning this is happening and so our clients are frustrated since it looks like their input is being ignored..

 

i don't think this issue is related to a local driver issue as we have had multiple calls with varying laptop or desktop models, using external microphone's or built-in to the laptop.

 

does anyone have any webex specific tools that I can use to provide details to webex support?
