Most of my writing on PC I do online, such as email and messaging, and what is not online is normally on a word processing program. What both of those platforms offer is spellcheck which gives me the confidence that my words are correctly formatted. Webex is the new platform that I am using and thus the absence of spellcheck for the chatbox is stark. Therefore, I would like to propose introducing spellcheck for the Webex messaging chatbox. Implementation-wise, the feature should function as it does in browsers and word processors: by underling misspelled words and providing suggestions of correctly spelled words after the user initiates some action such as mousing over, right-clicking, or by a hotkey. There should not be an issue of copyright as this sort of implementation is widely used.
The particular version of Webex that I use is Cisco Webex Meetings on Windows. Therefore, I am targeting this feature request toward that version. But spellcheck is important everywhere and if applicable other services should receive spellcheck if they do not already have.

Thanks - I voted for it!

Hi - if you did create an official feature request for spell check, please share the link here so we can vote for it. I think it is a great idea!

Yes, I reposted what I wrote here on the site provided.

Please allow me to offer some basics first:
There is ("the all new") Webex
(formerly called Webex-Teams formerly called Cisco Spark - just in case you find these names via Internet-Search...)
And there is Webex-Meetings.
Webex-Meetings is the name for the "old style" of Webex: schedule a meeting in e.g. Outlook, send a meeting-invitation which contains (added by the Webex-PlugIn) an internet-link to the Video-meeting and perhaps some phone-numbers etc.
Chat as a communication-option was/is only available during such a meeting = meeting over: no more chat with meeting-participants.
Increasing demand for faster communication caused Cisco to develop a new tool that covers the whole range: from text-Chat to audio-calling (1:1 or 1:n) , Video-Calls (1:1) up to Video-Meetings (1:n) to stay in contact before, during and after the meeting.
This new tool was released 5 (?) years ago called Cisco Spark, later renamed to Webex-Teams and now just called "Webex".
Since written communication is a key element of that tool it does offer spellcheck.
As it seems, Cisco is going to focus more and more on the new Webex since it offers more features for the customer - for the same price.
I hardly ever use the "classic" Webex-Meetings Client (because of the new Webex), but based on postings I have read here, it seems that the Webex-Meetings-Client does not offer a spellcheck-module.
Perhaps you/your organsiation may consider moving to the new Webex?

I do not have the capital needed to convince anyone in an administrative role to switch software. Frankly, given the cost of adopting new platforms, it would be unwise for any administrator to do so regardless. I understand that if I explore other software options I may find the features I am looking for. However, that point is moot both as I explained from my perspective as well as from Cisco's perspective. My organization clearly has a contract with Cisco for their service. If Cisco's services are unsatisfactory then my organization may try migrating to a new platform. If that happens there is no guarantee that they would not use one of Cisco's competitors. After all, we use Google G Suite, and now that Google Meet is a thing (and is web-based so has built-in spellcheck) why pay for two services? Therefore, it is in Cisco's best interest to innovate on their non-flagship software if there are enterprise-class users that pay for it. In fact, Webex Meetings has been getting new features and UI improvements. Therefore, I see no problem with my feature request.

I am unsure how I initiated your displeasure to cause your subliminally aggressive answer but I am convinced we have some kind of misunderstanding here:
Webex is just the newer generation of Webex-Meetings and - based on several product-presentations by Cisco - it´s the way this product is going to evolve. And: There are no additional license costs since your Webex-License privileges/entitles you to use both: Webex and Webex-Meetings.
BTW: the perfect place to post ideas and suggestions on how to improve any of the Webex-products is here: https://ciscocollabcustomer.ideas.aha.io/ideas

subliminally aggressive answer
I apologize.
I believe the misunderstanding came about because my intention was to create a post for a feature request (thanks for that link) and you intended to aid a user on a community forum. You gave information about options that in theory I already have that would mitigate the issue at hand. I understood your reply as opposing the idea because the feature is unnecessary so I defended my stance on the issue being valid. So I apologize for my tone.

Thanks for your answer to confirm that it´s just a misunderstanding.
Since English is a foreign language to me, I wanted to make sure that I did not offend you unknowingly.
