Ending a meeting

This has got to be the most basic question, but it is as frustrating as ... well, it's frustruating.

How do you end a meeting?

I've read the instructions, but none applies.  Here's what I have.

  • I small box that has my name, "host me", a mute icon and maybe a note that I'm the presenter.  The only control is to minimize and maximize this box.  No other controls, no right click, nothing.
  • In Webex teams a line item that has the name of the meeting with a time counter, that is now counting higher and higher.  Again, no controls and and no right click.

I closed all the open windows, so nothing going on there.

So how do I end the thing?  Or am I fated to be in this meeting for the rest of my life (or at least until I log off completely).

If for some reason, you ended up hiding the controls, hitting the Esc key would bring them back. Otherwise Ctrl + Alt + Shift will pop open the ribbon / toolbar.
You can see here for other shortcuts as needed: https://help.webex.com/en-us/84har3/Cisco-Webex-Meetings-and-Cisco-Webex-Events-Accessibility-Features

Thanks, that's extremely helpful!

If it helps anyone who sees this here is the issue: my company is on VMWare and their ribbon is placed over the Webex ribbon on the top of the screen.  VMWare creates a virtual desktop, so once in, there's little reason to access the controls there and, since that ribbon can toggle you between real and virtual machines, it's actually something to avoid.  In sum: the Webex screen share is hiding behind another ribbon that one tends to ignore and avoid.  Unfortunately none of the other Webex elements have the controls or a right-click option (at least while sharing).

The solution is that the VMWare ribbon can be moved a little (it will stay on top but can be moved left or right) or use Mike's keyboard shortcuts above.

Okay, thirty minutes after the meeting it prompted a dialogue box.  It still would be good to know how to do it.

Hello,
The three primary ways I would end my meeting / call are:
1) On the floating control bar at the bottom of the meeting window - Press the Red X. Note this bar hides itself until you open up the application window and move your mouse.
2) Close the Meetings Application - Just like most apps, there should be a hard exit in the top corner. Click the X should prompt you to confirm the meeting is ending.
3) If all else fails, File > Exit works the same as the previous two options.

Thanks for the answer.  My point is that I have none of those things.  All I show are what I described in the OP.  I scroll through the different apps there's no app the corresponds, there's no File menu.

It could be the first one, but mine's not a bar at the bottom it's a dialogue-box-sized thing that could be anywhere on the screen but doesn't have (or hides maybe) an X.

I'm sharing my screen.  Does that hide any controls?  If so how to bring them up?

Is there a hot key combination that brings up the controls that you mention?

Thanks again for your help,

Andy

If you are sharing your screen, you have to stop sharing before exiting the meeting. During your share, the control bar is pushed up to the top of the display. If you hover over this, the bar will appear, and there should be an orange Stop Sharing button.

Thanks!  Is there a hotkey to stop sharing?  The ribbon you talk about is one of the things I looked for but couldn't find.
