How can I prevent webex adding itself to desktop and start menu every time it starts

I don't like gratuitous clutter on my desktop, and I prefer my start menu organised in a way that makes sense to me.

Webex, like too many applications demands that it be on the desktop AND start menu in another place, and puts itself there every time it starts.

How can I prevent this?

Just don't clutter my desktop, and do leave my start menu alone.  I don't reinstall it every time I start it, but this stupidity makes it looks like that, and I find it annoying enough that I don't want to use it for that reason alone.

TY for sharing.. Have you tried to set your preferences with the desktop app?

I saw nothing here that seemed to relate to it sticking icons on my desktop or folders in my start menu.  I only saw references to things like automatically starting on login (which I have already disabled).

Sorry I wasn't much help. I'm sure there is an answer. Just not sure who has it though.

Thanks for trying.  I put in a support request too and they're still looking into it, so I'm beginning to suspect there may not be an easy answer at this point.

Although I do understand your request, please allow me to say:
after many years doing IT-support and -administration I have learned how lots of users think:

no Icon visible? -> Application not installed! -> angry message to IT-Dept..
Because of that I do understand why Cisco puts the icon on the desktop by default.

Have you modified your start-up or removed Webex from run on start up? If memory serves me there was a way to do this as well as not place the Webex icon on the desktop.

Stopping it from running on startup merely prevents it sticking itself on the desktop and in the start menu every time I log into the machine.

Unhappily, it has no effect on preventing it happening whenever I actually need to run Webex, when it once again sticks itself on the desktop and in the default folder in my start menu.
