I am a teacher. Students "drop in" to my personal room to get help and I leave my personal room open for this purpose.
After a recent update, students have to wait in the lobby to join. If I am doing other things on my PC, I miss the notification that they are there., I am now losing valuable time with my students.
The only alternative seems to be to...
1. Sit and stare at WebEx application so I don't miss a student waiting to enter
2. Make individual, scheduled meetings for individual students - which will prevent other students from entering that meeting.
Neither of these options are really workable. Can someone please suggest an alternative way of using WebEx to do what I need it to? If there isn't an alternative, I'm afraid its goodbye WebEx, hello Zoom/ Google Meet......

Hello Mark,
Sorry to see you disappointed with Webex features, however, I am happy to tell you that we do have a solution to your problem.
For your account, if students are hauled to the personal room lobby instead of directly admitting them to your meeting. Here's what you can do:
> Go to the administrator page of your webex site.
> Go to Common site settings > Options.
> Go to section "Personal room security"
> In this section we have a field "When a meeting is unlocked," in which you can select "Guests can join directly".
This would automatically have your quests admitted to your personal room meetings without diverging them to lobby.
Please rate helpful posts and if applicable mark "Accept as a Solution".
Stay safe, Stay healthy.
Regards,
Renu

Hi, I am looking all over for how to turn this off so anyone that has been invited gets into my meeting room rather than me having to let them in from the lobby, this started happening about a month ago and i hate it because i dont always see them waiting.
i want to turn this off so they go straight into my meeting room but i am not seeing how to do that based on your instructions.. HELP!

Hi there purrfactor.
So it turned out for me that I could not turn this off. In my circumstance, those settings were changed by my employer (the department of education in my state) and they will not change them back on a 'case - by - case' basis.
However, I did find one thing that helped me... Hopefully (if you situation is similar to mine) it might help you...
Open a meeting in your pesonal room.
Click meeting - settings.
Go to 'notification'
Under "participant action sounds" - tick "Join meeting" and choose an appropriate alarm tone.
People still have to be "let in" from the lobby (not ideal, in my opinion), but at least my computer alerts me when someone arrives.
I hope this is useful to you!
Cheers,
Mark

Well, I cannot tell you for WebEx, but for Webex, there is a setting in your meeting site options how it the lobby should behave. You can define if guests have to wait in the lobby, if they may immediately join or if guests may not join.

Hi Mark,
You will need to contact your Webex Administrator to get them to change the settings described by Renu as these are site wide settings which you will be unlikely to have access to!

Steve
