Is it possible to sign out the chat element of webex?

Is it possible to sign out of the chat part of webex but still join a meeting? When on training I want to stop the interruptions from chat and voice calls.

I think your best option here might be to look into using the Do Not Disturb availability setting (available by clicking your avatar in the app) as well as ensuring that your notication preferences are tuned to your liking (Settings\Preferences... Notifications...)
