Update Webex Meetings Desktop Client without User Interaction

We are having an issue where users who do not launch their Webex Meetings desktop client are not getting updates pushed from the cloud. Is there a way to force the client to update without requiring the user to launch the client short of repushing the client via SCCM? Thanks for any input

Thanks for the replies and we understand how it works out of the box. The issue is that method does not meet our needs and we are trying to avoid attempting to push SCCM updates out to 100k+ user laptops every time there is a Webex update so that associates who irregularly use Webex do not fall so behind on client updates from both an end user experience impact as well as a security patching concern

This is correct, the only time the Webex Client [pre meeting and in-meeting respectively] check their installed version vs the site they are attempting to join is at meeting start time. Via site-specific controls the site owner can decide whether or not the pre-meeting client is suggested to be upgraded by the participant ["a new version is available do you wish to download it?"] is optionally presented to the user if this flag is on the site, otherwise they do not see it. The in-meeting client upgrades itself automatically if necessary at meeting join time. If this behavior is not desireable, you may push the updated meetings client via software distribution tool [PC/Mac] to the users directly to prevent this potential delay on joining meetings if there is a mismatch.

Hello Chris,

are you using also the Webex Productivity Tools or have you only Webex Meetings Desktop App installed?

Background to my question:

We are also running the Webex Meetings Desktop App in the background in combination with the productivity tools. When our site version is upgraded the Webex Meetings Desktop App is downloading automatically the newest version and installs it into \AppData\Local\Webex.

If you are not using Webex Productivity Tools and the users are also not logged into the Webex Meetings Desktop App, the client will still load the newest version of the client and install it into \AppData\Local\Webex\Webex\ and there in a meetings folder.

The upgrade of the desktop app itself will not be triggered because the client does not know that the home webex site of the user is upgraded because there is no linking between the Webex Meetings Desktop App and the site. If you are using the productivity tools and the users are logged in, the desktop app should take over the account information of the productitivty tools and upgrade the client.
