Using Canva with Webex for backgrounds and images with green screen

Hi everyone,

I'm scheduled to lead a children's music performance on Webex for a library audience and I would like to use a green screen and incorporate backgrounds that I create using Canva. On top of that I would like to be able to add select images along the way. So, for example, when I sing a song about a rabbit and a red bird I would like to  have those 2 images appear when it's the appropriate time. I've found some backgrounds and images that I can use but it's not yet clear to me if and how I can make that happen using Webex. I should also mention that although I've started a meeting to experiment with this, I have not invited anyone, it's just been me. So I don't know if more options become available once someone else is part of a webex meeting that are not available when it's just the host. Any input is most welcome.

Thanks,

Noam

@noam As far as I understood: you want to change the virtual background during a Webex-session.

I guess you will need an additional software that composes all the (visual) content* you want to mix into one live-feed provided as virtual webcam to webex.   (* webcam, pictures, animations etc..)

Just as an example: OBS
https://obsproject.com/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Broadcaster_Software
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_key

You may try to use OBS to visually mix the video from your webcam with images/videos/other live-feeds... using the chroma-key - feature ("green-screen") and send the result to Webex. Since all this is done in real-time you may need to check if your computer is capable enough.
Note: there have been reports in this forum, that MacOS-devices have/had? trouble to use virtual webcams with webex.

Note2: you will need someone backstage managing the visual-effects in OBS since you are busy singing etc. during the session.

Thank you for that reply. That is very helpful. I did attend an OBS
workshop a few months ago by another fellow children's musician so I can
refer to my notes from that. I appreciate the reminder that OBS can be
used for this type of thing.

you are welcome.

Perhaps you want to share with us your experiences and lessons learned after the event...

Will do.
