I have a user that has 40.10.9.13 installed on a windows device, when they go to click on "change background" before you can even choose a option it crashes and ties up the camera as well. Then is unable to have video, however still able to share content. I have uninstalled/reinstalled and used their cleaner/remove tool to uninstall and able to replicate error each time. Only solution seems to be uninstall>restart>install>repeat. This brings the camera back into play as well. Even closing the program and restart does not bring camera functionality back to program until you uninstall the damaged program. Any ideas? I have seen a few posts about this but not many.

I attempted to set a virtual background and after that anytime I turned the video on it would crash the WebEx application. I recently discovered on my 64bit Windows 10 laptop there is a key in the registry named VirtualBackgroundEffectEx once I set that to None, the WebEx application worked correctly again. I am sharing in hopes this helps someone else who is in the same situation.

If you have the exact path to that key in the registry.. it would be most helpful! Worth a shot anyway.

Try uninstalling 40.10 then installing 40.11.
40.11 worked for one of my users.
