ACI Physical Domain VLAN

Dear All,

Could someone clarify my concept about vlan reused in the ACI. In all Cisco documentation, i am reading VLANs are bound to domain either physical or vmm or external. But at the same time, it is mentioned that VLANs can be reused on the other leaf switch. Can we use reuse VLANs in different physical domain on the same leaf switch ?. If not , i would love to understand the concept.

Many thanks,

Best Wishes.

Hello

Thanks for using SupportForums

Regarding your question "can a VLAN be reused on the same leaf switch" the answer is yes.

This is a feature known as Per Port VLAN. It allows two different EPGs in the fabric to use the same access encapsulation.

There are some pre-requisites for this though.

  • EPGs must be tied to a different BD
  • Different VLAN pool must be used
  • Local scope enabled

Here is some more information on it.

Hope that helped!
