Anyway to configure management IP for ACI switch in CLI, without APIC?

There are some spare switches with OLD ACI image (v14.1). I need to get them upgraded to v16.0 before being compatible with the APIC (v6.0.6c). I know the USB drive approach but it is kinda difficult to access the site...I do have the KVM access to the serial console of the switches though...So is there a way to apply temp mgmt IP address onto the ACI switch via CLI to download the newer image?

Not sure which AI you used to get above but the information is incorrect...

Hi @wajidhassan ,

Let's face it, we all use AI to some extent - at times we don't even know it.

BUT if you are just going to feed a question into AI and spew it back out on the forum, you are not helping anyone.

By all means, use AI to polish the wording of your well researched answer, but PLEASE, don't post answers that you have not had direct experience with, or can't test first. And if you are speaking from assumed knowledge, say "I think it works like this but haven't been able to test it"

Anyone who has had even minimal experience in ACI knows that the one command that makes ACI switches different to all other Cisco switches is

configure terminal

This command just isn't supported when the switch is in ACI mode. Never has for the 10 years I've been working with ACI.

Which means that you've done no real research into the answer.

Also the first time in the 20 years that I've been a member of this forum that I wished we had an Unhelpful button to click.

Not sure what was going on here in this thread ..

But ..
Put an 6.0(x) ACI Switch Image onto a FAT32 formatted USB Stick, connect to the console of the Nexus Switches with your laptop and break the boot process to get to the loader prompt, copy the NX-OS image to the bootflash and boot it.

Speaking from experience:
Use an ACI Image one version lower then your target version, then upgrade the new Leaves once they are joined to the fabric.
Otherwise it is very likely that the APIC will throw some faults about CPLD not being up to date on those new Leaves ..

Let me know if i should outline the process in further detail.
