Hi,

Please, what is the difference between :

  • Add new logical interfaces to an existing l3out to an external router
  • Create new l3out to the same external router..

FYI: will be a new VRF on the external router side..

Thanks,

Hi @conf-t ,

Your comment that it will be a new VRF on the external router side begs the question
Will there be a different VRF in ACI?

If you have a different VRF in ACI (I'm struggling to think of how this would look if you didn't) then the answer is easy - you'll need two L3Outs in ACI because a L3Out can only be linked with a single VRF.

In fact, I think all-round that this is probably the better approach, but I'm happy to be corrected.

Same VRF on ACI side

Hey @conf-t , Considering that you are keeping the same VRF on ACI side; below is the major difference between :"Adding new logical interfaces to an existing L3Out" vs. "Creating a new L3Out to the same external router":

  1. Adding new logical interfaces to an existing L3Out: Enhances the current L3Out by adding more interfaces, useful for expanding capacity or functionality without creating a new configuration.
  2. Creating a new L3Out to the same external router: Establishes a new, independent L3Out configuration, useful for creating separate routing domains or policies for different types of traffic or services.

If you could share more details of your setup, we can take more deeper dive into the solution.
