Hello

Thanks for using SupportForums!

What is connected on the other side of that port?

If I'm not mistaken, sometimes we see input discards if its an L2 switch on the other side sending floods or something for a VLAN that ACI is not trunking.

Thanks Dpita,

I have confirmed with the server team , both side are trunked and all vlan tagging are normal.

we dont see ant packets drops in those vlans.

show logging ip access-list internal packet-log deny

[ Wed Jun 15 02:49:23 2016 382584 usecs]: Start of deny-log trace

the attachment is the numbers of discards on those interface ,, 13--VIO1,, 14--VIO2, 15--VIO3

looks like all of them are dropping the same amount of packets.

dont know what kind of packets get dropped , any idea? Thanks

Hi rubberheart

the attachment.. is it from ACI GUI? if yes where can i find it in the GUI

Regards

Zeeshan

it is not from ACI GUI , we enabled the snmp in ACI , this is the snmp server (Solarwinds) GUI.

snmp here OneClick is loggin this incident "Description - Packet Discard rate > 5%" from one of the leaf.. no port information is there.. i dont know where to look

any resolution for this issue. We only see it in 1st Gen Leaf.

Regard,

Are you able to resolve the issue, this kind of behavior you can see only with L2 switches connected to 1st Generation leaf? Please update me if you resolve this issue. What type of leaf are using

Hey!

As far as I know, if you are running an ACI release lower than 5.0,
then Traffic that is punted (sent to the CPU of the Switch, like Management Traffic) is also counted as Output Discard/Drop.

This can be seen as "Strom Drops" in the detailed view of the interface counters.

In your example output, on the interface Eth 1/13,.. could you share the output from the following command on the same switch?

vsh_lc -c "show platform int counters port 13"

Thanks and br

Juls

Hi Julis,

We are talking about two different issues, our leaves 1st Gen connected L2 switches and we are observing input/output discard.

from the command, you provided the following output showing zero Strom drops.

vsh_lc -c "show platform int counters port 43"
Initializing Module.
Stats for port 43
IF LPort Input Output
Packets Bytes Packets Bytes
eth-1/43 43 Total 852112 83145878 435682253 259564962972
Unicast 82255 21537802 418496365 258170793683
Multicast 725522 51964992 14933788 1158017906
Flood 0 0
UnknownUC 0 0
Unclass 126591 9640534
Total Drops 841762 180274
Storm Drops(Bytes) 0

Okay i see.

Does that happen on multiple switches and multiple ports, or only on specific switches and specific ports?

Thanks and br
Juls

only on specific switches 1st gen Switches
