Hi

Does anyway know what the difference is (apart from cost) on the different 40G cable options available for connect spine to leaf switches?

I am consider 1 of the following options but just want to know if one is better than the others for performance and reliability.

- QSFP-H40G-CU3M

- QSFP-H40G-AOC3m

- QSFP-40G-SR4-BD transcievers with OM3(50/125) lc-lc fibre leads

We already have enough of the QSFP-40G-SR4-BD transcievers and during our testing have not seen any issues using these. We are now completing our testing and about to deploy live, so I just want to check if there is any real difference between the transceiver and the cable assemblies

Thanks in advance

Roy

CU=Copper TwinAx

AO=Active Optical

BD=bi-directional comms on a single fibre strand

Pretty much everything supports CU.  I often use that.  I think most Nexus kit supports AO so you can use that as well (just check compatibility with your kit).

BD is more typically used by service providers where the cost of putting in an extra fibre strand is expensive.
