vRealize fails to add Shared Network

Ben Jenkins

I am trying to use vRA to deploy new EPG's on a VMM domain using AVS.

I have created the 2 handles (admin and tenant user) to allow vRA to deploy and I can successfully create BD's within the tenant.

The problem I have is when I try to deploy shared and VPC networks. The workflow shows the following error:

Any ideas?

Hey Ben,

Are you sure the VMM Domain called "AVS" already exists?

Robert

Yes, I have attached a screenshot from APIC and the inventory from vRO.

Thanks Ben.  What's the fault showing on your AVS domain?

Robert

Hi Robert

The fault was due to out of sync. To resolve the issue I deleted the AVS from both apic and VC and reinstalled.

As you can see from the attachment there are no faults but the issue still reoccurs.

Hi Ben,

Is this issue resolved?

To resolve this issue I had to assign the Tenant "Cloud9" to the security domain of the AVS in APIC.

After adding the tenants security domain to the AVS I am able to select the AVS from the Cloud9 handle and not from the admin handle. The problem now seems to have changed and now its complaining about an unknown attribute :

I followed the virtualization guidelines shown below, as you can see the encapMode field is only applicable if the AVS is enabled to local switching

Step 3   In the Tenant Shared Plan pane, choose Add Tenant Network - Shared Plan and perform the following actions:
  1. View the Service Blueprint Information for the input fields and click Request.
  2. In the Request Information pane, add the description and click Next.
  3. In the Step pane, perform the following actions:
  4. In the NetworkEPG name field, enter the name of the new shared network (new-shared-network).
  5. In the Domain/DVS field, click Add, expand your_apic > vCenters > your_vcenter and select the DVS.
  6. From the encapMode drop-down list, choose either Auto, VLAN, or VXLAN for the encapsulation mode.
    Note

The encapMode field is applicable only if the VMMdomain type is Cisco AVS (Local Switching). Selecting VLAN or VXLAN for vDS VMM Domain, may lead into unpredictable results.

  7. In the Application Tier Number field, enter a numeric value from 1-10.
  8. In the Intra EPG Deny field, select a value either Yes or No.
  9. In the Allow Microsegmentation field, select a value either Yes or No.
    Note

The Allow Microsegmentation field is applicable only if the VMMdomain type is vDS VMM Domain.

  10. In the Use Default BD? field, select a value either Yes or No.

If you selected No, choose a custom bridge domain by clicking on Add.

    • Expand your_apic_user > Tenants > your_tenant > Networking > BridgeDomains > your_bridgedomain and select this bridge domain.

  11. Click Submit.

I have left this as default (AUTO).

Thanks

Ben

Ben,

Change your input for encapMode to "auto" (lowercase).  The object properties are case sensitive.

Robert

How do I do this? I can only select from the drop down ?
