Hi All
I am completely new to setup of ACE devices and have inherited a design from a sales specialist that has since left our company.
Basically, we have a Production site and a DR site. We have four subnets between the two sites, these subnets will be configured at both locations, so we have to stretch the LAN between the two sites. This is all fine but the sales person sold the client 4 x ACE-4710s(a HA pair at each site). Full SAN replication will take place across the layer two link, Although the subnets are spread across both sites, we will be using site recovery manager(SRM) to manage the active/standby relationship, so if the production server in the production site fails, the SRM script will run and assign the prod address to the device at the DR site..... but how do I configure the ACE's to deal with this ? The secondary site will not have any IP addresses until the SRM assigns them, but the ACE at DR will be connected into the same layer 2 network as the prod ACE's... the ACE's have no clue they are hundreds of miles apart !
Does anybody know of a way this can work ? ..... or should I just advise the customer to make their DR a cold standby, that will only be powered on when we have a failure at the production site ?
Any and all suggesstions, ideas, help is greatly appreciated.
Mooey
