ACE - L4CPS vs L7 CPS

Hi, would anyone support me understanding the difference between L4 and L7 CPS. In ACE20 datasheet don't indicate that support L7 CPS while in ACE30 datasheet yes. What does mean? The ACE20 don´t support what?

Regards.

Re: ACE - L4CPS vs L7 CPS

Hello Gerardo,

In simple words, L7 are the connections where the ACE needs to make a deeper packet checking in order to do a load balancing decision, for example URL decision, inspection, HTTP cookies or TCP payload parsing. This connections are more processor intensive than L4 because the ACE needs finish the handshake with the client, buffer that information and wait for the client to send the data packets in order to make the load balancing decision.

L4 conns in the other hand are balanced based on the first packet so the 3 way handshake can be completed between the client and the server.

ACE 10/20 do support L7 conns, they support around 133K CPS.
