Can we use CSM to load balance Windows file systems shared folders?

Hi

can we load balance Windows file systems using CSM?

That is two servers having \\VirtualServer\shared folder, user access this folder either via server A or Server B.

If Server A down, user still can access the folder via server B?

If the shared folders are purely by IP, I think it can be done. Only worry if there are hidden issues...

Appreciate for any feedback.

Thanks

I believe you can.

I think there is a problem with the server checking name or ip but it can be solved with a loopback ip address.

A loadbalancer is basically a smart nating device [nating between virtual ip and server io], so you can try to answer your question by putting a server behind a nating device like a router or a firewall.

If it works, then it will also work with a loadbalancer.

Regards,

Gilles.

thanks

Will try it out. Some applications can not work with NAT devices, and I worry MS file sharing is one of them...

Anyway, testing is the best method.

How about my another post? Can you enlight us on how to do a TCL script on monitoring shared folder?

thanks!
