Choice of correct WAAS design

Nice day.

I will be happy if anybody could assist me with following questions.

We are planning to introduce WAAS system.

We have the channel between Branch office and Data Center 300mbps.

Which WAAS technology better to use?

We  examine this model WAVE-7541. Looks great for our goals.

But also we thought about opportunity to use SMSRE-900/910. We have 3945E Routers in Branch office and Data Center.

So the question is:

How many modules SMSRE-900/910 we could insert in 3945E Router?

(if I'm not mistaken the maximum is 4 modules)

Can all 4 modules works parallel to reach 200mbp/s for WAAS on 3945E router (one module SMSRE-900/910 -50mbp/s) ? They use performance of Router 3945 or they use their own processor?

Many thanks everybody in advance

Alex

Hi ,

Hope the SRE module will not support RAID 5 feature where else WAVE will support RAID 5. Inserting the SRE module will utilizing the huge amount of Router cycle and memory. You need consider the cpu utilization and data redundancy if the data/site is critical.

Bala

Hi,

Many thanks for answer =)

And what about opportunity to use SM-SRE-910-k9 in 3945E Router?

1)How many modules we can insert in 3945E router?

2)What maximum bandwith of channel we can compress on 3945E with modules SM-SRE-910-k9?

Cisco told that one module SM-SRE-910-k9 can compress channel with bandwith 50Mbp/s.

Kind regards,

Alex

Hi Alex,

You can use 4 SRE module in 3945E router but i am not sure about the maximum bandwidth.

I am not sure if you can reach 200Mbps with the SMSRE-900/910 in a 3945E router, but I am 100% sure you can reach 300Mbps with the WAVE-7541.

I have a pair of WAVE-7541s on a 270Mbps point to point circuit with inline cards on each end.  Before WAAS was installed replication was taking 3-4 hours with 2+ hours of bandwidth being maxed out at 270Mbps, since the 7541s have been installed, replication now takes less than an hour and bandwidth on circuit has not gone above 100Mbps.   The provider has not called me since to ask if I would like to upgrade my bandwidth.  Go with the 7541 because it will without a doubt handle the full 300Mbps and the SMSRE-900/910 maybe might possibly be able to max out at 200Mbps.
