CSM, a general question!

Can I realize a kind of active-passive load-balancing? And how?

For e.g. 2 servers. that means only use one server, in case of a failure of this server use the second one?

Thanks.

create 2 serverfarms. One for the active server and one for the standby.

Then under the vserver do the following :

'serverfarm backup '

Don't forget to add probes to your serverfarms to detect failures.

Gilles.

Many thanks for your help! This confirms my solution!

Hello Gilles. I have now another question: if the primary serverfarm fails, the vserver comes outofservices but the clients can connect to the backup serverfarm. Is it ok?

Thanks, Andrea.

Andrea

If the primary serverfarm fails the vserver will switch to the backup serverfarm and will stay in service. ie the vserver does not go out of service.

HTH

you are correct.

The vserver will go outofservice.

This is useful if you are using the RHI feature so that the CSM stop advertising the vserver but if traffic still comes in, the backup serverfarm will be used.

Gilles.

Thanks Gilles.
