Problem: Not able to communicate (ping, telnet, http etc) from the css box to anywhere outside. Neither to the servers nor to the machines on the public ip.

Arp entries shows blank.

The interface of the switch and css shows up status.

The following are the config on the css box.

sh run

A public vlan is created on the css11150 and a public ip is given as the VIP. Also a private vlan is assigned so as to communicate with the servers that are in the dmz zone.

Can anyone pls advice on any configuration errors on this.

Thanks,

Melvin

Melvin,

try to set the duplex and speed manually on both the switch and the CSS.

On the CSS the command is "phy ..."

Regards,

Gilles.

Hi Gilles,

I tried with 100mbps full/half duplex and 10mbps full/half duplex on the switch as well as on the css 11150. The interface shows up. But the servers are not reachable.

And the interface comes up only with a cross cable.

Thanks,

Melvin

Could this be a hardware problem? Can we confirm this by any means? I did show chassis and following is the output.

Melvin,

indeed the "offline-bad" is a bad sign.

Can you try a 'reboot_diags'.

Save the boot sequence. We might need it.

If that does not solve the problem, you will need to replace this CSS.

Thanks,

Gilles.

Thank you Gilles

I tried the reboot_diags. I'm afraid it didnt have much effect on the box.

I get the following msgs while booting up the css box.

The sh chassis result shows the interfaces e1 - 8 as bad-offline. But I still should be able to use the e9,e10,e11,e12 & e13 right?

Thank you,

Melvin

e1-e8 is actually only 1 internal module and this module seems to be broken.

The CSS is unable to communicate with it.

The othe ports should be fine.

Gilles.
