IOS SLB performance on 6500 Sup720 ??????? 12.2.SXF9

Guys,

As above. Anyone got any idea? I know that the MSFC3 has got 500k PPS performance. However, does this translate to IOS SLB performance with NAT i.e. directed mode? I ask since the config guides state that directed mode is not hardware accelerated by the Sup720:

I have several virtual servers confgured with for DNS, SMTP and HTTP. I possibly want 300Mbits/sec throughput on http. This should be feasible but wanted to check?

Thanks,

Steve

I do not have the performance numbers, but 300Mbit/sec is not the true question.

We're looking at connection/sec.

The ios slb works great when traffic is loadbalanced without changing src or dst ip addresses. As soon as you nat, everything is software switched and performance drops.

So, for HTTP loadbalancing I would say you should look for a loadbalancer.

The CSS11501 is the smallest one and can achieve what you need.

If you expect to grow the amount of traffic, you can consider the ACE module.

Gilles.
