Optimization not happening for non-directly connected networks

Hi there,

We have deployed WAAS in our network consist of Central manager (524) & Edge WAE (7341) in Datacenter. Another Edge WAE(7341) in Branch location.

Network topology:

Data Center:

One router:

For WAN connectivity

Two Core switches 6509 switches with HSRP

WAAS CM and Edge.

One VSS switch (6509+6509)

Server farm

Branch Location:

Router - WAN connectivity

Edge 7341

Two Core Switches:

Server farm connected.

In this scenario, Optimization traffic is happening for the networks which are directly connected to the core switches. But it is not working for the networks which are in the VSS (i.e) which is one hop behind the core switches.

The connectivity between VSS and Core is L2 port assigned to a same VLAN 100.

At present we are getting Passthrough traffic instead of Optimized traffic for networks whose SVI interface are in VSS which is one hop behind the core switches. I am sure it is possible to achive we use L3 port for the core to VSS connectivity. But for another purpose it is in L2.

Kindly let us know what is needed to achieve traffic optimization for networks which are connected in the VSS switch.Pls find the network topology and configuration in the attachment.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Without seeing your wccp configuration, it's hard to determine what the issue is. However it sounds like you may be missing interception config on an interface or an ACL that is excluding that traffic. Just for reference, WCCP redirect needs to be configured on a L3 interface.

Hope this helps,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your response. Two days back only this problem solved so i have removed the configuration and network diagram. The problem was with HSRP and WCCP. In WAAS box router list configuration we have given the HSRP ip of the core switch. But unfortunately WCCP didnt get registered with Core 2. So that the traffic which flows thru Core 2 didnt optimized. SO now we configured both Core 1 & Core 2 IP's in Router list. Then it is working fine.

Regards,

Pradeep
