Hi,
I have cisco wave 574 with raid configuration. now one of my HDD has problem. can I replace this HDD with generic HDD ?
the original HDD is seagate 500G SATA-II, but I cannot get the same type. I get the HDD seagate 500G SATA-III.
Can I use it to replace the 2nd HDD ?

Hi Eddy,
SATA-111 is backwards compatible but i am not sure if it will work fine and would suggest to consult with TAC before doing it. You should get RMA of the same disk if you go through Cisco TAC. Can't find anything in documentation regarding this except a note where it says that HDD's should be alike.

Hi Eddy,
So to be clear SATA-111 drives can be plugged to a SATA-11 controller and it should work fine (as far as discussions i see, just googled) but again i am not sure and would suggest opening a TAC case or get exact DISK RMA'd.
