SCE Integration with Bluecoat

I have the following query but I am not sure if I am posting the thread in the right category.

is it possible to use the SCE to redirect traffic towards bluecoat caching systems?

if yes what is the granularity level for that? is it on layer 7 ?

Hi Jean,

The short answer is no. I guess you got confused with the redirection features present on the SCE.

Those features are designed to redirect requests to an error page (through a HTTP 302 message) if the connection is being blocked. However, for web caching, you don't need a HTTP redirection, but rather, a transparent transfer of the original request to the web caching device for further processing.

For this kind of redirection, I would recommend you to either use "Policy based routing" or WCCP. With both of them you can achieve transparent redirection of the traffic based on ACLs.
