Upgrade IOS for cisco ASR1001-X

Hi,

I need help to confirm if my setting is correct before I reboot the router. This is a production router so I have to be careful.

I need to upgrade IOS for my ASR1001-X  from asr1001x-universalk9.17.03.03.SPA.bin to c1100-universalk9.17.03.06.SPA.bin

I did copy the new OS to flash, and set up boot command as below:

rss1-rtr#show run | i boot
boot-start-marker
boot system flash bootflash:c1100-universalk9.17.03.06.SPA.bin
boot system flash bootflash:packages.conf
boot-end-marker

rss1-rtr#show boot
BOOT variable = bootflash:packages.conf,1;flash:/bootflash/c1100-universalk9.17.03.06.SPA.bin,12;
CONFIG_FILE variable does not exist
BOOTLDR variable does not exist
Configuration register is 0x2102

Standby not ready to show bootvar

rss1-rtr#

Is it good enough for me to reboot or I need to be aware of something?

Please advise.

Thanks

Loc

Can you post show version before you reboot :

Looks like the router in install mode, so you need to use install method to upgrade

i can see packages.conf file that means install mode (but we can only confirm based on show version and dir (full output here)

if you have logs  show install log

WTF.

I can guarantee the router will not boot 17.3.6.

Reason?  Because the 17.3.6 firmware file is meant for an ISR 1100.
