We are currently half 4.2.3c and half 4.4.7, and I recently found out that 4.5.1 is able to compress and acelerate ICA(citrix). So my question is what is the best path to get our entire envirement to 4.5.1?? It looks like we cannot go from 4.4.7 to 4.5.1. Should we downgrade back to 4.2.3c and then go to 4.5.1??
Thanks!

Hi Dan,
Yes, you should first downgrade to 4.4.5 or earlier and upgrade from there to 4.5.1

From release notes
When you upgrade to Version 4.5.1, observe the following guidelines and requirements:
•Upgrading to Version 4.5.1 is supported only from Versions 4.1.1d, 4.1.3, 4.1.3b, 4.1.5c, 4.1.5f, 4.1.7, 4.1.7a, 4.1.7b, 4.2.1, 4.2.3, 4.2.3c, 4.3.1, 4.3.3, 4.3.5, 4.4.1, 4.4.3, and 4.4.3a. If you want to upgrade a WAAS device running a different version, first upgrade to the next supported version in the list, and then upgrade to the current 4.5.1 version.
•Upgrading to Version 4.5.1 is not supported on the following platforms: WAE-511, WAE-611, and WAE-7326. WAAS Version 4.5.1 does not operate on these appliances.

Version 4.5.1 is not posted to CCO and is delivered to customers via request from their Cisco account and support representatives. This was due to the scheduled release of 5.0 next month which will include the ICA Layer 7 optimizer as well as encrypted MAPI and support for SMBv2.
I would suggest waiting for 5.0 to be released next month and then upgrade. However not all older appliances, specifically 512 /612 and older NME router modules NME302 502 and 522 will be supported on 5.0. If you have these appliances you will either need to upgrade to newer appliances or upgrade 4.5.1

Sounds like a plan. All we have in our environment are 274 and 474 devices, do we need to be at a certain firmware level on those?. Any chance 4.4.7 is going to be in the upgrade path to 5.0?

From what I am being told, pretty much all versions from 4.1 should be able to be upgraded to 5.0. Again, I would wait for the release notes to be posted to check on firmware and supported previous versions
