WAAS - Dynamic Share and Performance -

PETER GEHRMANN

Sciene a few months our company switched to WIN 7 and ABE.   We implemented Dynamic Shares on our WAAS devices and linked them to the AD. Actually we have some users reporting poor perfonce during explorer browsing  in their shares. We have some questions about the WAAS performance in correlation with ABE/Dynamic shares.

Does the introduction of dynamic shares have some impact on browsing performance?

If yes, we are interested if the browsing of shares with a deep subfolder structure (i.e 10 or more levels of subfolder)  would show more a severe impacts on performance.

Actualy WAAS  AD authentication runs over the WAN against the central AD server. Could browsing performance be improved  by switching to a local AD server?

Many thanks in advance for quick answer.

Peter,

You might try the behavior without CIFS AO enabled and rely only on TFO (you can do it per flow).

I'm no longer with the WAN Optimization team (so I might not have my info up to date) but I see following enhancement bugs are not yet resolved.
